Christmas Wishes
OK Foster Wishes began in 2004 with a need presented and met by engaging the community to support kids in foster care. Each year, just as the need has grown, the support has grown in our state and we have gained community partners that are passionate in advocating and caring for the our children. Recently, In 2011, we joined OKDHS along with many community partners to fulfill the Christmas Wishes of more than 5,500 children in foster care. Birthday Wishes
We are excited to begin a new partnership to serve the children in Oklahoma and Canadian County by fulfilling birthday wishes of children in foster care. In January of 2012, more than 200 Oklahoma county children had a birthday while in foster care. While we hope that they are in a loving home that could celebrate their latest milestone, we know that many are not. Please click on the picture above to read the names and ages of children who will celebrate their birthday away from their family and uncertain of their future. |
Emergency Kinship Support
Over the Christmas season we had many requests for additional help for families who had lovingly agreed to be a kinship placement for children who had been placed in foster care. They, many times on a moments notice, agreed to do whatever needed to bring a child (or in one case 7 children) into their home with out immediate support from OKDHS. Most were in need of a bed, crib, car seat or small amount of food to get them by until the next pay day. Please click on the photo to see how you can help to make the difference in a child staying another night in a shelter when they could be with a family that they know during one of the most uncertain times in their lives. |
Flux
Did you know that you are more likely to complete climbing Mt. McKinley than to complete high school if you are in foster care? Please help us celebrate with these amazing youth by making a door prize donation or volunteering to serve. Learn more at FluxOKC |
Walk A Mile
A 1 mile family-oriented walk to promote awareness and response to the crisis faced by Oklahoma’s 8000+ Foster Children due to the shortage of good foster homes and lack of community involvement.
Information will be available on 3 ways to bring solutions to this crisis through prayer, volunteering, adoption and fostering. We encourage the entire Oklahoma community to participate in "defending the fatherless", our own Oklahoma children who desperately need the love and support of the body of Christ.
