We are proud to join our Impact Partners, The Spero Project and The HUB mission ministry, to resource kinship families to be able to take a child into their home on a moments notice. Many children stay with a friend or family member, also known as a "kinship placement", during foster care. Some times a family is willing to bring in a child to their home from or to avoid the shelter, but are in need of a bed or food to be eligible to qualify as caregivers. Kinship families do not receive reimbursement from the state until they have been certified as a foster home to include weeks of classes and waiting until a "home study" is completed. This process can take weeks and sometimes months and can put a family, that would otherwise be okay, in a bind. We will provide "safety kits", which has mandatory safety items such as a fire extinguisher, plug covers, drawer locks, to OKDHS kinship foster care offices to keep on hand for families in need. As well as include a list of local food pantries, restaurants that have "kids eat free" nights, and foster family support groups and organizations. We will take requests from caseworkers to provide a bed or food when it will make the difference in a placement for a child/children.
You can help by; *purchasing a "safety kit" Click the picture on the left to see our registry wish list. Please purchase one of each item (approx. $60) and choose "ship to recipient" so we can equip families to serve these precious children in crisis. Your group could also hold a drive for these items. OR *volunteering to deliver food, etc. Click HERE to volunteer to be contacted for Emergency Kinship Support delivery opportunities. Please contact us for more info at okfosterwishes@gmail.com
